Emmett "Joey" Carter

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Emmett Joey Carter, age 47 of Heath, will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.Joey was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 17, 1967 to Emmett Carter of Newark and Cheryl (Richard) McCarthy of Canal Winchester. He passed away at Kindred Care Center in Newark on October 18, 2014.Joey graduated from Millersport High School, Class of 1985. He was a self-employed carpet installer and was also a landscaper, winning many awards. He enjoyed drawing and was a great artist. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting camping, history, the great outdoors and spending time with family and friends.In addition to his parents, he is also survived by two sisters, Christy (Larry) Gotschall and Amy Carter; significant other, Vicki Gorley; cousins, Scott Doyer, Michael Doyer, Kim Morrison and Shawn Morrison; aunts, Sharon Gersteinmeier and Paula Doyer; step aunt, Candy (Roy) Bradley; uncle, Darrel Riggs; and five nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Roy and Virginia Carter; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Billie and Russell Riggs; and cousin, Tina Morrison.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
