Erika Virgene Mathews

A graveside funeral service, celebrating the life of Erika Virgene Mathews, 49, of Newark, will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery, Kreager Road SE, Heath, with Pastor Nick Shaw officiating. Erika was born in Newark, Ohio on November 7, 1968 to Runette Thrasher and Jeff Mathews. She passed away at her residence on April 18, 2018. Erika enjoyed landscaping, hardscaping, flower gardening, floral arranging and was a cat lover. She had a big heart, was very family oriented, loved helping those in need and never met a stranger. Erika was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Alabama Crimson Tide fan. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. In addition to her parents, survivors include her loving daughter, Emerson Weatherly Evans; brother, Bradley (Christine) Mathews; nephews, Ian C. (Lindsey) Mathews, Eli C. Mathews, Jeff (Teasa) Wollenburg and Vince (Carolyn) Wollenburg; and numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Patty Mathews.
