Esther L. (Shackleford) Thompson
1929 – 2021
“What God set free is free indeed.”
Esther Louise (Shackleford) Thompson was born to the late Samuel and Geneva (White) Shackleford on June 21, 1929 in Newark Ohio. She entered eternal rest to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Newark Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by her children: Sandra (Jerry) Stallworth, James (Kathryn) Thompson, Anthony H. Thompson, Victoria (Anthony) Taylor and Carma M. Brown; living siblings: Geneva Black, Samuel (Sheryl – significant other) Shackleford, Rebecca Black, Kathryn Thomas, Brenda Greene, Daniel (Marie) Shackleford, and Deborah (Glenn) Bower; sisters-in-law, Gloria J. Shackleford, Betty Thompson and Shirley Thompson.
Loved ones who preceded her in death: Sisters, Peggy Mathews, Helen King, Cynthia Shackleford and Norma Jean Shackleford; brother, Raymond H. Shackleford; divorced spouse, Alvin Lee Thompson, and daughter, Patricia Thompson.
In addition, she has an abundance of family (grandkids, great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins) 3 generations deep who are all celebrating her home going.
Special thank you to the wonderful staff at Newark Care and Rehab who became her family during this pandemic period.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at Newark Memorial Gardens, 4244 Marion Road NE in Newark.
