Eugene Barr

Eugene Gene Barr, 77, of Thornville, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. He was born on November 13, 1935 in Rockcastle, WV. to the late Milton and Rena (Davis) Barr. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifetime member of the AmVets Post 51, Thornport as well as Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville. He enjoyed boating, taking meticulous care of his yard, and spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; three children, Jeffrey (Tina) Barr, Kathy (Rick) Skillman, and Angela Gresh; two step-children, Mike (Dayna) Patrick and Troy Patrick; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Eileen Parsons; one brother, Dewey (Marcella) Barr; as well as several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Morrison, Lilly Morrison, and Ianthe Barnes; and three brothers, Ray, Charlie, and Julius Barr.A funeral service, celebrating Genes life, will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville with Pastor David Zandt officiating.
