A funeral service, celebrating the life of Eugene O. Williams, 88, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013, in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Brad Kittle as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown.Gene passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 in Newark following a brief illness. He was born September 7, 1924, in Burlingham, Meigs County, to the late Richard E and Glenella N. (Burleigh) Williams. He was a graduate of Shade H.S., served honorably in the US Navy, WWII, seeing active duty in the CincPac fleet. Following his service to his country, he farmed throughout his career, and was still actively farming at the time of his death.He was a 50 year member of the UCT of Newark, and Hebron American Legion, Post #285.He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty (Hawk) Williams, children Gary (Linda) Williams of Georgia, Rodney Williams and Annette Williams, both of Jacksontown; grandchildren: Nicole (Mike) Courtney, Chad Williams, Matt Williams, Gina (Craig) Burdick, Ginger (Ben) Howe and Jennifer (Brian) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren Jacob, Austin, Ty, Ben, Scottie, Caden, Ella, Bethany, Bridget, and Brinley; special cousins Roger & Jane Williams, brother George (Marlene) Williams and sisters Grace Powell, Pauline (Scott) Ervin, Betty Kelley; along with many nieces and nephews.His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Funeral Home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville.
