Eugene R. Wilson

Eugene R. Wilson, age 93, of Newark, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Altercare Newark South. Eugene was born August 12, 1930 in Cannelville, Ohio to the late Charles and Martha (Payne) Wilson.

Eugene was employed at the Newark Air Force Base for 30 years where he had been a missile repair technician. He served in Battery C of the 174th Field Artillery Battalion of the Army National Guard and in the 268th Communication Squadron of the Air National Guard. Eugene enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty L. (White) Wilson, whom he married August 14, 1953; and by four children, Cynthia J. (Jack) Conard, Susan E. (Charlie) Snyder, Randy E. (Bonnie) Wilson, and Kimberly S. (John) Robison; seven grandchildren, Holly (Randy) Omlor, Jaime (Nick) Mears, Morgan (Jonas) Williams, Amanda Wilson, Stacy Wilson, Sarah (Alex) Robison, and Emmi (Kenzie) Robison; two great-grandchildren, Lila Omlor and Aurora Mears; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, David, and Lawrence Wilson; and five sisters, infants Wyona Mae and Freda Marie Wilson, Margaret Love, Rachel Trout, and Roella Fisher.

A private graveside inurnment service will take place at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Stovertown, Ohio.
