Evelyn was born September 9, 1927 in Newark, Ohio to the late William A. and Flavia (Hall) Murphy. She passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. Evelyn was a 1945 graduate of Jacksontown High School and spent her life as a farmer on the farm where she grew up as a child, later raised her family and lived the remaining years of her life. She was a member of the Newark Eagles for over 50 years. Evelyn found great pleasure in her menagerie of cats and was a life-long collector of antiques. Evelyn overcame many hardships throughout her life, never learned to drive, but raised her children to be strong and independent and instilled in them her values and love of the family farm. She is survived by a son, William H. Renner (Toni Asberry); daughter, Ruth L. Young; grandchildren, Heather (Matthew) Wentzel, Anthony Renner, Andrew Renner and Holly Young; great-grandchildren, Emma Rose Wentzel and Lee Alexander Wentzel. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice of Central Ohio, Heath Nursing Care Center and the Hocking Valley Community Hospital for caring for our mother.
