Evelyn Swain Mcvicker

A funeral service celebrating the life of Evelyn Swain McVicker, age 98, of Newark, formerly of North Canton, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Hanover Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, October 20, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Evelyn was born June 23, 1919 in Newark, Ohio to the late Ursel and Jeanette (Ayers) Swain. She passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Inn at SharonBrooke. Evelyn had been a bank teller and loan office with the Guernsey Savings and Loan and retired in 1984. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the New Concord Garden Club and was a member of the New Concord United Methodist Church since 1969. She enjoyed music and playing the piano and often played for services at SharonBrooke. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Kathleen) McVicker of Sunbury and Thomas (Carolyn) McVicker of Zanesville; daughter, Janet Campbell of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Timothy S. Campbell of Reynoldsburg and Melissa J. Campbell of Pickerington; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brittany, Rebecca, Logan and Shawn Campbell; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy McVicker, on January 31, 1991; and by a brother, Jim Swain; and two sisters, Clara Lou Armstrong and Charlotte McClure. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 East High Street, New Concord, OH 43762.
