A graveside service celebrating the homegoing of Felix Marshall Davis, age 81, of Newark, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, at Newark Memorial Gardens with Pastor Reecior M. Puryear officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Prior to the graveside service, friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Felix was born October 21, 1938 in Fairhope, Alabama to the late R.C. Davis, Sr. and the late Josephine (Puryear) Davis. He passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Felix honorably served his country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by TCI/Goodyear in Heath for over 36 years where he was a mechanic. He was also a cook at the Granville Inn. Felix was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir and was part of the men’s chorus. He enjoyed fishing, country music (especially Reba), gardening, cooking, especially Italian food, barbecues, and fish fries, and spending time with his family. Felix was a member of the American Legion Post #85 in Newark.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Laurie Jefferson of Reynoldsburg and Leslie (Fred) Sickles of Newark; grandchildren, Quincy Sellers, Charita Cheever and Charmain Cheever; great-grandchildren, Braelyn Carswell, Lexington Wilkerson and Damian Sanchez; sister-in-law, Hubra Lee “Herbie” Royster of Newark; his goddaughter whom he loved dearly, Faith Burke; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Esther (Speed) Davis; a brother, R.C. Davis, Jr.; and two sisters, Mattie Blake and Sara Lee.
Special thanks to Virgil Mitchell, who was Felix’s friend, buddy, and later his caregiver and who was part of the family. Thanks to special cousins for their guidance and thanks and love to all our family. Let’s stay together!
