Florence Spurgeon

A memorial service, celebrating the life of Florence Ellen (Hook) Spurgeon, 86, formerly of Kirkersville, will be held graveside at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013, in the Kirkersville Cemetery.Florence died peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2013, at her home in Longmont, Colorado, following an extended illness. She was born in Gahanna, on August 6, 1926, the daughter of the late Floyd and Alveda (Looker) Hook. Her grandparents were William and Florence Gay (Dawson) Looker and Herb and Ellen Nora (Sager) Hook.She was a retired claims supervisor at Buckeye Union Life Insurance Company in Columbus. She was an active member of the Kirkersville Baptist Church.She is survived by her loving family: her daughter Pamela (Roger) Kuseski of Longmont, Colorado, grandchildren Rod, Matt and Mark Kuseski and Cara and Josh Baccus, her sisters Mary (Robert) Nowell, Ruth Ann Griffith, Margaret (Rolyson) Root; her brothers Floyd Hook and John (Jean) Hook; along with many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband James Spurgeon on March 26, 1988; her brother-in-law Harold Griffith and sister-in-law Nancy Hook.The family prefers that memorials be directed in Florences memory to: Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield County, 2130 Mountain View Avenue, Suite #201, Longmont, CO 80501.The family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 1:00 P.M until graveside services at 2:00 P.M. at the Kirkersville home of The HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville.
