Florence Louise "Flo" Wilson, age 89, of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Altercare Newark North. Born on December 11, 1935, in Newark, Ohio, Flo was the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Shipley) Yarnelli.
Flo dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. Her life was filled with the joy of playing cards, traveling, and she was always thrilled by a trip to the casino. A vibrant member of her community, Flo was involved with various organizations, including the Newark Eagles, Moose, Druids, American Legion Post #85 Auxiliary, and the Reac Club, where she formed lasting friendships.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Henry E. Wilson and Ricky Lee (Kristin) Wilson, both of Newark. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth (Mike) Rian of Mount Vernon, Brandy (Greg) Vickers, Melanie Wilson-Mason, and Henry E. Wilson III (Brooke), all of Newark; great-grandchildren, Summer Rian, Sydney Church, Kyndal Mason, Eleanor Wilson, Lily Wilson, Henry Edward "Eddie" Wilson IV, Teddy Wilson, and Lucy Wilson, along with her great-great-grandson, Denver Church. Flo is also survived by her sisters, Della "Pug" Garey of Texas and Sandi Wilson of Newark; her dear friend, Janice Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Flo was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Henry Edward "Pat" Wilson, who passed on January 25, 2011. She is also preceded by her daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Wilson; her siblings and their spouses, Charles (Ann) Yarnelli, Louis (Wathalean) Yarnelli, Ralph (Louise) Yarnelli, Mary (Charles) Lyons, Magdeline (George) Arter, Francis (William) Vogelmeier, Helen (Paul) Arter, Mabel (William) Harris, and Glendina (Dean) Cochran; and brothers-in-law, George Wilson and Ron Garey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Private interment will take place at Newark Memorial Gardens, where Flo will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Pat. A celebration of Flo’s life will be held at a later date.
