Forest Sands

A funeral service, celebrating of life of Forest Sands, 94, of Hebron, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday May 29, 2016 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Serivce, with Pastor Jeff Gill as celebrant. Burial will follow on Tuesday morning, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kirkersville Cemetery, where Forest will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Ginny. Full Military honors will take place. Forest was born July 18, 1921 in Hebron, the son of Darl and Marta (Hitt) Sands. He served honorably in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He was a life long member of the Hebron Community, retired from Rockwell International, and owned and operated Sands TV Sales and Service in Hebron. He was a member of the Hebron Christian Church, Hebron Post of the American Legion and was a member and past master of Hebron lodge #116, Free and Accepted Masons. He is survived by his loving family: Susie (Don) McEwen of LaVergne, TN., Steve (Sharyl) Sands of Newark, Doug (Lisa) Sands of Westerville, grandchildren Amanda, Carla, Rebecca, Melissa, Debra, Jason, Jacob and Aaron, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Ginny Sands on June 2, 2012. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville. The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Hebron Masonic Lodge #116, for Special Olympics, in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
