Frances Messer

Frances M. Messer, 78 of Etna, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 5 2015, following a brief illness. Frances was a strong Christian woman, who believed in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born March 30, 1936 in Crum, West Virginia, the daughter of Howard Wallace and Mary Marcum Meade. She was retired from Mt Carmel, where she worked in the kitchen for many years. She was a life member of the American Quilters Society and the Reynoldsburg Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and baking, along with reading and traveling. Her husband of 61 years, Ermal Walter Walt Messer, preceded her in death on March 3, 2013. She is survived by her mother Mary Meade, her children Rosemary Davis and Gary (Maria) Messer, 2 granddaughters Loretta and Debbie, 2 great grandsons Kaleb Messer and Chandler Shull, her brothers Daniel (Penny) Meade and Cecil (Donna) Meade and a sister Joan (Bob) Perry, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers Walter and Paul Meade and a son-in-law Bradley Davis. Friends may call on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 285 E. Main St. in Kirkersville, where funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with her pastor, Jerry Sargent as celebrant. A short service will follow on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at The Church of Christ, Walnut Grove, Crum West Virginia from 11:00 a.m until 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in the Meade family cemetery, Crum West Virginia.
