Frank A. "Tom" Pendleton

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Frank A. Tom Pendleton, age 78, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery.Tom was born in Newark, Ohio on June 30, 1937 to the late Samuel and Dorothy (Mount) Pendleton. He passed away on February 1, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Tom proudly served in the United States National Guard. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Prior to retirement, he worked for Layton Excavating for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Margaret (Wills) Pendleton, whom he married July 27, 1988; children, Cynthia Pendleton of Mt. Vernon, Linda (Lester) Grennell of Utica and Brenda (Richard McGinnis) Layton of Howard; step children, Judy (Ernie) Merrill, Peggy (Bill) Sadowski and Janet (Garrett) Overby; grandchildren, Jay Justice, Jason (Julie) Broseus, Carson (Becca) Hale, Jordan Grennell, Andy (Lynette) Black, Katie (Jason) Purdy, Dusty (Michelle) Layton and Chasity (Matthew) Coad; sister, Tootie (Stan) Samdal and Joyce (Jim) Young; 16 great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; special neighbor and buddy, Dillon Athey; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Tim Pendleton and Eber Pendleton; half-brother, Richard Mount; sisters, Kathryn Whyde and Ruthie Victor; and half-sister, Betty Whyde and Edna Soleather.Family will receive friends at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Friday, February 5, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Tom and his family.
