Frederick Harlan Ballard

Frederick Harlan Ballard, age 76, of Pataskala, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Fred was born May 8, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harlan Anthony and Alta Liddie (Frederick) Ballard.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Fred faithfully served his country in the Vietnam War. He retired in 1994 from the Newark Air Force Base where he had been an electronics technician. Fred was a member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church and the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking (especially making picnic tables and cabinetry), fishing, and watching Western movies and TV shows as well as reading Western novels.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Yolanda Pangilinan (Diminsil) Ballard, whom he married October 24, 1971; son, Anthony Frederick “Tony” Ballard; daughter and son-in-law, Anna Beatrice and Andrew Raymond Mayes; sister, Londa K. Wertman; and niece, Kristina R. Wertman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Timothy J. Wertman; and a nephew, Adam W. Wertman.
