Frederick Ray Erwin

Frederick Ray Erwin, 69, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was born on October 1, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Ora Erwin and Florence (Pfeiffer) Heeter.

Fred was a self-employed mechanic. His passion for working on cars was surpassed by his love for his family, fishing, farming, and enjoying a good game of cards. He was also fond of relaxing with a glass of wine.

Fred is survived by his children, Sandy (Richard) Harris, Mindy (Doyle) Pertuset, Frederick (Kristin) Erwin, Leslie (Michael Painter) Erwin, and Pamela (Michael Rounds) Davis. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren; Samantha, Erika, Rebecca, Erinn, Richard, Devin, Carlee, Mariah, Henleigh, Haiden, Raylynn, Logan, and Krew; great-grandchildren, Caiden, Ryley, Oliver, Xavier, Coleson, and an eagerly awaited great-granddaughter, Arielle; siblings, Wilma Erwin, Ora "Ed" Erwin, Ted Erwin, and Mary Peterson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his loyal, dog, Jack and cats, Twinkie and Gypsi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Janet Shaner; step-father, Charles Heeter and his sisters, Cathy Harmon and Marie Harmon.

Family and friends may call on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville, Ohio, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 351 Coonpath Rd. NE, Lancaster, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Fred to the Newark/ Southeast Licking County 4-H-Beef It Up Club or the Licking County Humane Society.
