A memorial service celebrating the life of Frederick Eugene “Fred” Sickles, age 59, of Newark, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Reecior Puryear officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Fred was born July 12, 1964 in Newark, Ohio to the late Frederick Emmond and Rose Marie (Dunlap) Sickles. He passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospital.
Fred was employed by Save A Lot in Newark. He was an excellent swimmer and also enjoyed working in his yard, planting flowers, writing poetry, and riding his motorcycle. An avid sports fan, Fred especially loved the Michigan Wolverines and the Las Vegas Raiders. Silver and black were his favorite colors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Leslie Ann (Davis) Sickles, whom he married March 3, 2009; son, Freddie Sickles of Newark; granddaughter, Journey Rose Sickles; step-son, Quincy Gene Sellers of Newark; sister, Roseann (Brian) Sparks of Newark; niece, Lorrie Hurst of Columbus; sister-in-law, Laurie Jefferson of Reynoldsburg; uncles, James “Bud” Dunlap of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Richard Sickles of Newark; and many cousins.
