G. James Deeds

A funeral service celebrating the life of G. James Deeds, 64, of Washington, Illinois, formerly of Pataskala, will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow at Pataskala Cemetery. A celebration of Jims life will be held in Washington, Illinois at a later date.Jim died Saturday morning in Peoria, Illinois, following a brief illness. He was born January 13, 1951, in Columbus, the son of the late John and Josephine (McCormick) Deeds. He was a 1969 graduate of Watkins Memorial H.S., attended Baldwin-Wallace College before transferring to The Ohio State University where he graduated with a degree in engineering in 1974. He retired in 2006 after a 30+ year career with Caterpillar manufacturing in Peoria, Illinois. In his retirement, Jim enjoyed his hobby farm, spending time with his grandchildren and was an active bicycle enthusiast throughout his life.He is survived by his loving family: wife Pam, daughter Jessica (Seth) Soja of Chicago, son Jeff (Kayla) Deeds of East Peoria, grandchildren Emma, Josephine, Ethan, Isaac, Andrew and Cameron; brother Robert (Sue) Deeds of Thornville, several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Michael.The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville from 10:00 am until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.The family prefers that memorials be directed to the OSF Richard L.
