Gabriele Crist

Gabriele Gaby Katharina Crist, of Thornville, passed away peacefully in her home on April 29, 2014 at 5:15 p.m.. She was born on July 30, 1937 in Berlin, Germany, daughter of the late Herbert and Marion Spect.Mrs. Crist will be fondly remembered by many as the owner of the Thornport bait store, as well as her own vitamin shop and vegetable stand. She was well known by the locals for her signature fish bait blend, her excellent taxidermy skills, and her passion for life. Gaby enjoyed spending time in her garden and flower bed, as well as canning, writing, cooking, riding her tractor, and spending time with family and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Lee Watts Measley.She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Jim Crist; her children, Sherry Brantley; Herbert Lee Watts, Veronica Butler (Jeff), Michelle Lee Thompkins (Scott), and George Leroy Collins-Measley (Jeff); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was loved by many and we cherish our memories with her.
