Gary Carson Camp

A memorial gathering celebrating the life of Gary Carson Camp, age 82, of Hebron, will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, at Harbor Hills Country Club, 225 Freeman Memorial Drive in Hebron.

Gary was born July 3, 1936 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Herbert O. and Alice (Berkimer) Camp. He passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home.

A 1954 graduate of New Lexington High School, Gary was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1955-59 and was stationed in Antarctica from 1956-58 in Operation Deep Freeze. Gary retired from the Newark Air Force Base where he was manager of the Credit Union. Following his retirement, he was employed for several years with RCD Sales. Gary was an avid golfer at Harbor Hills Country Club and was also an avid fisherman and a member of the Cranberry Marsh Bass Club.

He is survived by three children, J. Marc (Tonya) Camp of Newark, R. Teresa Best and James P. Camp, both of Hebron; grandchildren, Katie (Scott) Gillig, Abby (Larry) Thomas and Carsyn Camp; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Iggy and Dawson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgine Camp, whom he married May 12, 1958 and who passed away on October 22, 2018; a sister, Dorothy Moore; and a brother, James G. Camp.
