Gary G. "Pops" Sainsbury

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Gary G. Pops Sainsbury, age 74, of Thornville, will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Brian Harkness officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery, with military honors being observed by the Buckeye Lake VFW.Gary was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on August 28, 1941 to the late Alan and Doris (Goman) Sainsbury. He passed away at his residence on September 5, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family.Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from 1963 to 1967. Prior to retirement, he was the owner/operator of his own trucking company. Gary was also a certified master mechanic. He was a former member of the VFW post #1388 in Buckeye Lake; was a member of the Millersport Lions Club, where he served as the youngest president of the club; Millersport Eagles Lodge; and Fairfield County Teamsters Union. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, stock car racing, watching NASCAR and western movies. He especially enjoyed hunting with Tod and watching horror movies and playing video games with Nathan.Survivors include his two sons, Tod Sainsbury and Nathan Sainsbury; and many nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Sainsbury; sisters, Hazel and Alice; and brothers, Ralph, Glen, Jack, Victor and Lloyd.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gary to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.Friends may call at the funeral home, 285 E.
