Gary Edward Jones

A funeral service celebrating the life of Gary Edward Jones, age 80, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, at First Community Church, 4381 Walnut Road, Buckeye Lake, with Pastor Kevin Blade officiating. Burial will take place in Glen Rest Memorial Estate where military honors will be observed.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks must be worn at both the funeral home and church and please practice social distancing.

Gary was born July 12, 1940 in Newark, Ohio. He passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Altercare Thornville.

Gary was a graduate of Hebron High School. He served Jesus Christ since July 1996 and worked for the Ohio National Guard for 27 years. Gary served in the United States Army/Ohio National Guard for 31 years. He was a member of First Community Church in Buckeye Lake and was a member of the Buckeye Lake Fire Department for 23 years, rising through the ranks to Chief.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Theo E. (Ward) Jones, whom he married November 2, 1963; son, Mark (Becky) Jones; grandchildren, Misty (Shawn) Risch, Jessica Miller, Katelyn Arnold, Tyler Jones and Alexander Jones; step-grandchildren, Tommy (Jillian) Klingerman, Nick (Kristen) Klingerman and Kathleen Klingerman (Curtis Gautz); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ethan and Landon Ailes, Draven and Ava Miller, Ben Klingerman, Austin and Sophia Klingerman, Emma Davis and John and Jack Gultz.

He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Gerald E. and Ruby Jones; mother and step-father, Dorcas V. (Bazler) and Harry Staiger; daughter, Laurie Arnold; great-granddaughter, Olivia Klingerman; and a sister, Debra Harding.
