A memorial service celebrating the life of Gerald Eugene “Gary” Loveday, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 76 East Main Street in Newark with the Rev. Lee Anne Reat as Celebrant. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Gary was born February 23, 1946 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Bonnie Jean (Hannahs) Loveday. He passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 in Newark. Gary was a 1964 graduate of Newark High School and was also a graduate of Ohio University. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army in the 11th Armored Cavalry, Black Horse Regiment, from November 1965-August 1967. Gary served in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds that he received. He was very appreciative of taking an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2019. An active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Gary served as Treasurer and on Vestry. He had a lifelong career in banking, beginning with Newark Trust Company in downtown Newark. Following his banking career, he worked in the Licking County Sheriff’s Office. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna (Drumm) Loveday; brother-in-law, Dennis Drumm; half brother, Rob (Vicky) Cunningham of Heath; niece, Amy Cunningham; and nephew, Scott Cunningham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half brother, Ric Cunningham.
