Algie Eugene Gene Gault, 85, of Heath, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at his home in River Oaks, following an extended illness. He was born August 8, 1930, in Steubenville, to Donald M. and Hope I. (Bills) Gault.Gene graduated from high school in Phoenix, Arizona, but always considered St. Marys High School, St. Marys, West Virginia his home. (The Blue Devils) Following high school, he served honorably in the US Army, during the Korean conflict. He also served in FAMED Strategic Air Command, and was stationed at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo, Japan, as a member of the Honor Guard for the General. After military service, he graduated from Marietta College in 1956 with a B.S. in business. He was a member of the Varsity M Football team.Gene was a charter member of the Moundbuilders DeMolay in Newark, Masonic Lodge at St. Marys West Virginia and 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Charleston. He was a long time member and CFO for the Hebron Post #285, American Legion, and Hebron United Methodist Church.Gene loved to golf, and called Harbor Hills Golf Course his home. He was a long time member of the club and received the Presidents award.His lifes work centered on accounting, and he retired from the City of Zanesville as the City Income Tax administrator. He took care of many family and friends taxes, so during tax season raise a toast to Gene!He is survived by his loving family: Sons John and Jay, daughter Anne (Michael) Fornataro of Buckeye Lake, Grandchildren Brooke (Alex Kirkpatrick) Gault and Brayan (Spencer Hayes) Gault, great-grandchildren Brynlee Kirkpatrick and Bristol Kirkpatrick of Hebron; special friend Kathy Wildermuth of Newark, his two canine companions Bell and Buttons, Brother James D. (Linda) Gault of Raleigh, North Carolina; niece Jamie (Lisa) Gault, their sons Alex and Fox Morgan, niece Mary (Scott) Sides and their children Dalton and Zach all of Raleigh, North Carolina.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Norma Wildermuth Gault, and daughter-in-law Denise Gault.Honoring Genes wishes, there will be graveside services with full military honors by the Licking County Veterans Alliance on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown, with Pastor Brian Harkness officiating. A memorial celebration will follow at the Harbor Hills Country Club.The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O.
