Gene H. Wyrick of Hopewell, Ohio went to his heavenly resting place Saturday 9/10/22. Gene had accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of his heart and life several years ago.
Gene was born in Mansfield, Ohio, 11/30/1933 as Eugene Harold Weisbarth. He is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Beatrice (Huston, Weisbarth) Wyrick and his father Lloyd W. Wyrick, who had adopted Gene.
In the Navy, Gene served in the Mediterranean from 1955-1961, reaching the rank of Petty Officer Third and was honorably discharged in 1961.
Gene started his college career at O.U. in Athens and finished his Associates of Arts Degree in Nevada in 1963.Gene loved the cowboy, rancher life and spent time in Nevada and California to be close to lifestyle. Gene also was great at writing, drawing and did extensive research on his genealogy. Gene returned to Ohio in 1970, where he purchased farmland, he actively took care of till his death.
He worked as a civil engineer draftsman in Florida, Nevada, California and ended his career at the Air Force Base in Heath, Ohio.
Gene is survived by 3 children, Rick (Paula) Wyrick, Cindy (Jay) Andrews and Randy Wyrick, 14 Grand Children and 27 Great Grand Children.
A time of gathering to celebrate Gene’s life will be September 25, 2022, 2pm-4pm at Criss-Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville St. Newark, Ohio. Military honors, provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance will be held at 4pm.
