Genevie Sue Decker

A funeral service celebrating the life of Genevie Sue Decker, 66 of Newark, will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Lisa Willey officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Friday, May 12th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Genevie was born in Glouster, Ohio on March 20, 1957 to the late Harold F. and Eileen (Alexander) Elson. She passed on May 5, 2023 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. Prior to retirement, she worked for SharonBrooke Assisted Living for over 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 44 years, James E. Decker, Jr. whom she married August 4, 1979; sons, James Decker III and Travis Decker; brothers, Harold (Kathy) Elson and David Elson; sisters, Donna Meyers and Deborah Hamrick; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Genevie to Hospice of Central Ohio.
