George "Joe" Karl Iv

A funeral service to celebrate the life of George Joe Karl IV, age 64, of Thornville, will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 8:00 PM at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating.Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.Joe was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 7, 1950 to the late George Karl II and Ruth (Clifton) Ruhl.He passed away at the OSU Medical Center on August 29, 2014.Joe was a team leader with McGraw-Hill Company for many years.He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.He was a life member of the Amvets Post # 51 in Thornville; member of the Buckeye Lake Moose Lodge #2434; and a life member of the American Legion Post # 283 in Pickerington.He was an avid euchre player, belonging to three euchre clubs.He enjoyed playing black-jack at the casinos, fishing, snowmobiling in the UP, and especially traveling with his wife, Sandy.Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sandy (Morris) Karl, whom he married on June 10, 1978; children, Karen (Steve) Teasdale of Coldspring, TX;Richard Dick (Becky) Winkler of Sterling, MA, Sherry (Michael) Wiseman of Thornville, and Sheila (Gary) Smith of Claremore, OK;sisters, Toni (John) Howell of Baltimore, OH, and Sonya (Bill Hersch) Stokes of Bexley; grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Amy,Sara, Amanda, Chastity, Richard, Sandra, Michele, Ben, and Kaiti,; 11 great grandchildren; his two loving dogs, Tinky and Sugar Bear; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Daisy Moore; and brother, Michael Timmons.Joe believed in the gift of life and was a liver recipient.Please make memorial contributions in memory of Joe to Lifeline of Ohio.
