A funeral service celebrating the life of George Rudolph Fiecoat, age 96, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.George was born September 25, 1919 in Newark, Ohio to the late Frank and Florence (Lockwood) Fiecoat. He passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.George was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and was a recipient of the Silver Star Medal for valor in combat. He retired from General Electric in Columbus after fourteen years of service and had also been employed with Pure Oil Refinery in Heath for 24 years. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Gary Ryan of Newark; two grandchildren, Andrew (Angie) Ryan of Newark and T.J. Ryan of Westerville; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Wells, Madison Ryan, Connor Ryan and DeLaney Ryan; nephews, Joseph Kappes, Ronald Kappes, Gerald Kappes, Frank Fiecoat, Jr. and Ralph Fiecoat, Jr.; nieces, Judy Farver, Jeanette Sheely and Deborah Dumlao; and devoted friend, Rosemary Starner.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian F. (Craig) Fiecoat, in 1995; and by two sisters, Violet Kappes and Clara Brown; and by a brother, Ralph Fiecoat.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for George and his family.
