George Stanley Detty

A private graveside service for George Stanley Detty, age 89, of Newark, will be held at Jacksontown Cemetery with Pastor Bob Beyer officiating. George was born June 13, 1926 in Brownsville, Ohio to the late Charles Stanley and Emma Belle (White) Detty. He passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital.George was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served his country during World War II. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas where he had been employed for 39 years. George enjoyed gardening.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty L. (Nichols) Detty, whom he married on May 29, 1949; a daughter, Brenda (Doug) Brown of Pickerington; two grandchildren, Rebecca Brown and Jayme Brown, both of Pickerington; and nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Wesley Detty and Charles Harry Detty; and two sisters, Pearl Bonnie Lybarger and Mary Lou Clark.Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive SW, Heath, OH 43056.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Kirkersville is honored to care for George and his family.
