George T. Lawson

George Thomas Lawson, 74, of Newark, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at his residence, following an extended illness.He was born March 19, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late William and Eva (Cantrell) Lawson. George was a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force, served honorably during the Vietnam Era, and had retired from the US Postal Service following many years of service.He was a member of the Newark Post #85 of the American Legion, and the V.F.W. Post #1060 in Newark. He also enjoyed fishing.He is survived by his family: wife Heidi, whom he married on June 21, 1977, his son Tony (Chasity) Lock of Newark, grandsons Darian and Deyrek Lock, his great grandson Avery, and his brother William R.(Adele) Lawson.Graveside inurnment will follow at a later date in the Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, Ohio; where George will be inurned with full military honors.
