Gerald (Jerry, Gramps) Franklin Ward, age 82, passed away on January 22, 2015. He was born on August 24, 1932 in Ironton, Ohio to the late Everett and Gertrude (Fleming) Ward. Jerry graduated from Ironton High School in 1950 where he met his wife, Doris. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 during the Korean War. Jerry married his best friend Sis in 1953 in Ironton. He attended The Ohio State University and Ohio Technical College where he earned his AA degree in 1969. He retired from Battelle Memorial Institute after 38 years. Jerry loved the Buckeyes, his boat on Buckeye Lake, his wine, and his cowboy boots. He is survived by his wife, Doris, his children, Daryl (Anita) Ward, Elizabeth (Keith) Yantes; his grandchildren, Erica and Jacqueline Ward, Alexandra (Jacob) Costell and his brother, Ronald (Karen) Ward. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Genevieve Hafle and Marguerite Hartwig. There will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
