Geraldine V. Colvard

Geraldine "Jeri" Virginia Polly Colvard, 82, of Grove City, formerly of Lenoir, N.C. passed away on December 7, 2021. Jeri was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1939 to the late William Sylvester and Pearle Amanda Cline Polly Wilhelm. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and stepfather, Renforth (Ren) Scarr Wilhelm. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bradley in 2006. Jeri came to Lenoir, along with her two brothers, in 1955 to join their mother and stepfather. She graduated from Lenoir High School in 1957. While there she met lifelong friends; among them, Phyllis Smith Munday (Hugh), Lucy Barnhardt Bush (Jake) among others. They, along with their spouses became known The Three Musketeers. After high school, she graduated from Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC and worked in various jobs in the secretarial field in Lenoir. She retired as Secretary of Tomlinson Plumbing, a position she held for many years. Jeri lived most of her life in Lenoir, N.C. She was active in the Jaycees, having been President of the Jayceettes. She was very active in the Miss America Program in N.C. She and her husband, Bradley; judged, trained and were involved in every aspect of the pageant world. In her free time, she enjoyed reading (romance novels), cross stitch and travelling as a tour director. She is survived by her loving family; sons: Steve (Jenny) of Grove City, OH, and David of Lenoir, NC; her brothers: Herman (Peggy) Polly of Garden City, SC and Harry (Janice) Polly of Lenoir, NC; Grandchildren: Bradley and Brennan Colvard, Jessica (Nathan) Corum, Josh (Michele) Shelton, Danielle Ferguson and Melissa (Kyle) Gee; and 6 great grandchildren; and a nephew and family of Charleston, SC. A memorial service will be held in Ohio on December 21,2021 at 7:00 pm at The Church on Como, 29 East Como Ave, Columbus, OH 43202. Visitation will start at 6:30 pm. Donations in her honor can be made to Compassion Outreach Ministries of Ohio (C.O.M.O.). Either Como-cares.org, text jericolvard to 41444 or mail a check to the church. A second service will be held in Lenoir, NC on January 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church at 11:00am. Memorials can be made to FBC Music Ministry, 304 Main St, Lenoir, NC 28645.
