Gilbert Stanley Hornyak

A funeral service celebrating the life of Gilbert Stanley Hornyak, age 83, of St. Louisville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Gilbert was born February 22, 1940 in Newark, Ohio to the late Gabor J. and Ida May (Cramer) Hornyak. He passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Mount Carmel Grove City.

Gilbert retired from Rockwell International where he had been employed for 28 years. He was also formerly employed by the Roper Corp. and B&O Railroad. Gilbert was a musician and played the guitar, banjo, fiddle, and viola. He played and sang Country music at the Heritage Hall Senior Center. Gilbert also enjoyed Square dancing and was an avid golfer who played on local leagues.

He is survived by two sons, Stanley V. Hornyak (Debora Eskins) of Front Royal, Virginia and Brian G. Hornyak of St. Louisville; grandchildren, Haley Hornyak and Kyle Hornyak of Dickson, Tennessee, and Kevin Hornyak and Kimberly Hornyak of Newark; great-grandchildren, Aiden McKinney, Stormy Hasley, and Kylee Jackson, all of Dickson, Tennessee; and a sister, Mary Earnshaw of New Mexico.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola M. (Edgell) Hornyak; and a daughter, Laura Melissa Hornyak.
