Gilbert James Kerns, Jr.

Gilbert James Kerns, Jr., age 74, of Newark, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 14, 2025 at his home. Gilbert, fondly known as “Gil” or “Jimmy”, was born March 16, 1950 in Newark, Ohio to the late Gilbert J. Kerns, Sr. and the late Dolores Lucile (Weed) Kerns.

Jimmy was a graduate of The Ohio State University and retired from the State of Ohio where he was employed for many years as an Administrator and Social Worker.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Pam Kerns of Newark; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy (David) Bigler of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Parrish.
