Gladys Irene Collins

A funeral service celebrating the life of Gladys Irene Collins, age 98, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Todd Blackstone officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Gladys was born November 27, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Sears and Ada (Zornes) Frame. She passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Hearth Brook Senior Living in Newark.

A woman of many talents and interests, Gladys found joy and solace in the delicate art of needlework and crocheting. Her skilled hands produced beautiful creations that were often shared with friends and family members, leaving behind cherished mementos of love. Gladys was also a passionate collector of antiques, seeking beauty and history in treasures from the past. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Gladys enjoyed dabbling in art and painting pictures. A favorite pastime she enjoyed was watching game shows. Her loyal companions, Babe and Jude, were never far from her side, providing her with companionship and love throughout the years.

She is survived by three children, Greg (Faith) Collins, Deborah (Merle) Piper, and Denise (Roger) Helmondollar; grandchildren, Dustin Collins, Lester Collins, Jr., Amy Mankins, and Trenton Helmondollar; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester M. Collins, Sr.; a son, Lester M. Collins, Jr.; daughter, Sandra K. Collins; brothers, William J., Robert W., Patrick, Glenn F., and Gene E. Frame; sisters, Opal C. Collins, Imogene Collins, Vivian M. Frame, Ruth N. Frame, Shirley A. Blackstone, and Judith C. Sexton.
