Gladys L. Lewis

A graveside service celebrating the life of Gladys L. Lewis, age 94, of Fairborn, formerly of Thornville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, at Newark Memorial Gardens with Pastor Walter Bruah officiating. Gladys was born August 29, 1921 in Licking County, Ohio to the late Virgil F. and Nellie E. (Thompson) Hendren. She passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living in Fairborn.Gladys enjoyed collecting figurines of hands, Heisey and antique glassware. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping and fishing with her husband. She was known for her delicious spaghetti sauce and meatballs.She is survived by a sister, Frances I. (Clarence) Soward of Fairborn; and nieces and nephews, Sondra Knicely of Piercy, California and Brenda (Jack) Tims of Riverside; great-nephews and great-niece, Travis Tims, Ryan (Crissy) Tims and Jackie Sue Tims; great-great-nephews and niece, Dalton T. Fortman, Dustin Tims and Kara Tims; and special friend, Ruby Bowers of Hebron.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin C. Lewis, on April 16, 1992; and by three brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Homer Hendren; and a sister, Helen M. Gibson.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Gladys and her family.
