Gladys Lee Walters

A gathering celebrating the life of Gladys Lee Walters, age 82, of Heath, will be held from Noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, at the Newark Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall, 200 South Williams Street, Newark.Gladys was born January 13, 1932 in Newark, Ohio to the late Ralph and Beatrice (Wagers) Barcus. She passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).Gladys was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, playing Bridge and Scrabble and was a genius at crossword puzzles. Her family was most important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them.Gladys was a very kind and giving person and so it was only natural that she decided to donate her body to The Ohio State University Department of Anatomy to further the education of medical students. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.She is survived by a daughter, Kay (Eugene) Mecier of Newark; grandchildren, Theresa Emerick of Newark, Charlene Simavart of Aransas Pass, Texas, Launa McCullough and Robert Mecier, both of Newark; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Derringer and Bonnie Francis; and a brother, William Spears.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.Criss Wagner Hoskinson is honored to care for the Walters family.
