Private graveside funeral services, celebrating the life of Glenda M. Prescott, 81, of Hebron, will be in the Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Ralph. Her pastor, Rev. Mark Katrick will be the celebrant.
Glenda passed away peacefully at her home on January 6, 2021. She was born April 26, 1939 in Pikeville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Sheridan C and Goldie Mae (Layne) Karnes. She was a graduate of Columbus Central High School, class of 1957, and retired after a long career as a claims processor with State Farm Insurance in Newark.
Glenda was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Newark, and the Hebron 55+ Club. She most loved spending time with her family, watching TV (especially the Golden Girls), researching family ancestry, Facebook, traveling, gambling and was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter Catherine M. (Mark) Edsforth, son James A. Prescott (Kristi Crow), granddaughters Cat and Chloe Prescott, sister Shirley Higgins, many nieces and nephews, her former husband John G.L. Kelly, best friend Evelyn Bower and special neighbors Clifford and Rose Mason.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Prescott and her son David T.C. Kelly.
Following her wishes, memorial contributions should be directed to Interim Hospice, 900 Sharon Valley Rd., Newark, Ohio 43055.
