It is with sadness that we share the loss of Goldie Dell Hummel, age 73, of Frazeysburg. Goldie left this world on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She had been surrounded by the faces and voices of her loved ones. Goldie was born April 20, 1942 in Granville, Ohio to the late Nelson Alan and Elsie Mae (Dixon) Williams.Goldie was a member of the Granville High School class of 1960. She was a Drivers Education teacher with ABC Driving School and Licking Valley Driving School for many years. She excelled at selling TupperWare and won several awards. In her younger years, she had been a maid at the Granville Inn and cleaned homes.An avid gardener, Goldie's pride and joy were her flower gardens. She had a green thumb and her flowers were beautiful. Sheenjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her Hot Rolls and homemade noodles. She was always ready to plan a get-together and enjoyed entertaining company or going to dinner and a shopping trip. She also enjoyed bowling and participated in league bowling. A fun-loving lady, you just never knew what Goldie would say next. Her happiest times were laughing with her friends and family.Goldie was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and TOPS. A founding member of the Madison Mothers Club, Goldie participated in school activities at Perry Elementary including being a room mother and planning parties for the childrenShe is survived by two daughters, Holly Jean (Al) Colbert of Newark and Brenda Louise (Mitchell) Ranck of Thornville; grandchildren, Ronald Eric (Amber Marie) Hummel, Kevin Eugene Hummel, Elise Lorraine Hummel, Maxwell Gene Grant Hummel, Sinjin Allen Colbert, Peyton Jinsin Colbert, Aaron James Ranck and Amanda Michelle (Aaron II) Gullett; great-grandchildren, Emma Marie Hummel, Elizabeth Nicole Hummel, Gwen Riley Gullett and Vincent Myron Gullett; sisters, Margaret Baker, Martha Henderson and Donna Mae (Dean) Topping, all of Newark; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence William Bud Hummel, on October 24, 2015; and by a son, Ronald Eugene Hummel.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, 4895 Reform Road, Newark. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A dinner will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall.Flowers may be delivered to Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Friday, April 1,between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. or on Saturday, April 2,between 10 a.m.-1 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Goldie and her family.
