Gracie Virginia Moody

A graveside service celebrating the life of Gracie Virginia Moody, age 97, of Petersburg, WV, formerly of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, at Wilson Cemetery with Pastor Wes Humble officiating.

Gracie passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center in Petersburg. She was born on May 3, 1925 in Riverton, WV and was a daughter of the late Mamie Warner. In addition to her mother, Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Moody in 2014; grandson, Michael Hottinger; three brothers, Bob Warner, Jimmy Warner and Jack Warner; three sisters, Alice Sennant Cowger, Nellie Warner and Martha Pittsenbarger. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Gracie is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Robert) Evans of Maysville, WV; three grandchildren, John Cochran, Angie Evans and Keith Evansl; granddaughter-in-law, Tammy Hottinger; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gracie was custodian for the Newark School Systems in Newark, Ohio for many years.
