A funeral service celebrating the life of Harold Frederick Fred White, age 77, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, at Grace Lutheran Church, 65 East Columbus Street in Thornville with Pastor Orrey McFarland officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 30, at Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 56 South Main Street in Thornville, where the Thornville Lodge #521 F & AM will have a service at 7:30 p.m. The family will also receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Fred was born August 16, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ralph and Merrell (Harrold) White. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his home. During the war years he lived with his mother and brother at Edgewater Beach, following which the family moved to Frazeysburg and later returned to Thornville. Fred was a 1959 graduate of Thornville High School and retired from Lucent Technologies. He was a long-standing member of Grace Lutheran Church where he participated in the bell choir. Fred was also a member of the Thornville Lodge #521 F & AM, Order of the Eastern Star #156 and the Aladdin Shrine Center. He enjoyed many Shrine activities including Circus Director, Hospitality Unit, Car Club and Aladdin Road Runners who transported children to Shrine hospitals. He also worked in other Shrine activities and was able to secure imaging equipment for local fire departments and specialty playground equipment for Glenford. Fred enjoyed his many years of friends and fellowship in Thornville. He especially enjoyed sitting in his back yard and enjoying the clickers clack of the trains in his garden railroad. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Peggy; sons, Drew (Julie) of Fishers, Indiana, Shawn (Lindsey) of Bayfield, Colorado, Aaron (Tara) of Delaware and Guy (Cassie) Manos of Granville; grandchildren, Colin, Evan, Ethan, Ellie and Mason; and great-grandson, Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald White; and by multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
