A memorial service celebrating the life of Harland Eugene Gene Glenn, age 93, of Newark, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Father William Hritsko officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Gene was born January 28, 1924 in Blacklick, Ohio to the late Harland and Lucy (Miller) Glenn. He passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Inn at SharonBrooke, rejoining his wife on their 68th wedding anniversary. Gene was a veteran of the United States Navy, faithfully serving his country during World War II. He retired from the fire protection industry where he had been an engineer. Gene was an avid golfer and had attained a hole in one. He also enjoyed bowling, square dancing, gardening, farming and traveling. He is survived by his children, Kathy Guirreri of Pickerington, Chris (Jim) Sims of Petaluma, California, Dorie (Jim) Kish of Westerville, Thomas (Julie) Glenn of Centerburg and Charlene (Norman) Mikaelian of Santa Barbara, California; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Patsy) Glenn of Ojai, California; a sister, Evelyn Frickert of Memphis, Tennessee; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine (Romps) Glenn; and a brother, George Glenn.
