Harold “Duke” Barber, 85, of Newark, died Friday, August 26, 2022, at his home. He was born September 23, 1936, in Columbus to the late Harry and Bertha (Taynor) Barber Sr. Duke was a member of the Buckeye Lake Community Church. He served as Union Township Chief of Police for nearly 30 years. He retired from the Licking County Juvenile Court. Duke was a history buff and he enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enactments and searching for historical relics. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kim; children, Lisa (Carl) Delong, Benjamin Barber, and Joseph Barber; grandchildren, April, Wade, and Briley; twin sister, June (Bill) Wright; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Barber; brothers, Harry Jr., and Paul Barber; and sister, Evelyn Minturn. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 6-8pm at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home where the funeral service will be Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:00am with Pastor Kevin Blade officiating.
