Harold Francis Jones

A funeral service celebrating the life of Harold Francis Jones, 91, of Newark, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Brugger as celebrant. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Harold died early Friday, September 15, 2017, in Newark, following an extended illness. He was a proud lifelong resident of Little Texas on the south side of Newark where he was born on February 28, 1926, the son of the late Frank and Ethel (DeVoll) Jones. A hard worker, Harold worked for several area businesses including Pharis Tire and Rubber, B & O Railroad, Roper, and retired from Jutlew Concrete. He was a former member of the Little Texas Christian Union Church. He was patriotic and loved his God, his family and country. Harold loved yard work, keeping his home meticulous, and really loved helping others. He never met a stranger. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 70 years, Leona (Glover), whom he married on March 1, 1947; his daughter, Jennifer (Vern) Lyons; son, Jack (JoAnn) Jones; two grandchildren; five great and five great-great grandchildren; along with a nephew, several nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Kenneth (Jud) Jones. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Harold and his family.
