Harry Dean "Hitch" Hitchings

A funeral service celebrating the life of Harry Dean Hitch Hitchings, 71, of Granville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Brian Harkness officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance will follow in the Pataskala Cemetery. Harry died Monday, December 26, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio following an extended illness. He was born in Nelsonville, Ohio on October 18, 1945, the son of the late Charles E and Lillian (Dearing) Hitchings.He was a graduate of Nelsonville High School class of 1963, served honorably in the United States Air Force, and was retired from Lucent Technologies after 30 years of service.He enjoyed spending time with his family, OSU football, and playing the slots at Scioto Downs. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Connie (Schoonover), whom he married on July 13, 1968; mother-in-law, Naomi Schoonover; son, Gary (Lori) Hitchings; daughter, Laura Hitchings; brother, Thomas (Liz) McQuaid; sister, Carolyn (Sam) Camilli; his four grandchildren, Tony (Hollie), Talynn (Taylor), Brooke and Terrial (Rosie); four great-grandchildren, Zoie, Natalia, Chance and Kayden; along with nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville.
