Hazel Lavina Hizer

A funeral service celebrating the life of Hazel Lavina (Lenarz) Hizer, age 81, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor James H. Daugherty officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Hazel was born June 1, 1940 in Midvale, Ohio to the late Robert Allen Lenarz, Sr. and the late Margaret Lavina (Howard) Lenarz. She passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Arlington Care Center.

Hazel was employed with Sanese Services for several years and prior to that had been employed with Aultman Hospital in the cafeteria. She was a member for over 30 years of the Newark Heights Church of God. She enjoyed find-a-word and crossword puzzles, playing games and cards, and listening to Gospel and Jimmy Swaggart music.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy (Walter) Hizer-Bretz of Newark; grandchildren, Denny Kerns, Jeremy Cochran, Matthew Cochran, Rachel Bryson, Renae Johnston, Bruce Garman, Jr., Ashley Crisp and Sara Ellis; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arby Lewis Hizer, whom she married on October 31, 1957 and who passed away on January 17, 1984; by two daughters, Donna Haque and Joy Weaver; and by two brothers, Alfred Lenarz and Robert Lenarz, Jr.
