Helen L. Sorrell

A memorial service, celebrating the life of Helen L. Sorrell, age 83, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark, with Pastor Nick Shaw officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the memorial service, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.Helen passed away on January 23, 2017 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. She was born in Whitmer, WV on October 11, 1933 to the late Willie C. Bodkin and Mary V. (White) Bodkin Ridge.Helen was a devoted homemaker and was a member of the Newark VFW. She enjoyed fishing, working in her yard and flower garden and also enjoyed going to the casino in West Virginia.Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Franklin L. Sorrell; brothers, Benjamin (Dawn) Bodkin and Donald Bodkin; two special nieces, Pam Lewis and Pam Mautz; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Helen to the Newark VFW, 469 Forry Ave., Newark, Ohio 43055.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Helen and the Sorrell family.
