Helga Evelyn Gutridge

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Helga Evelyn Gutridge, 85, of Newark, will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Mark Pierce officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Helga was born in Berlin, Germany on October 26, 1936 to the late Oskar and Gertrud Wally (Helmert) Siebenhaar. She passed away at her residence in Newark on February 22, 2022, while surrounded by her loving family. Helga was the co-owner, along with her husband, Gilbert, of Gutridge Plumbing in Newark for 47 years. She was a member of Moundbuilders County Club in Newark and the Venetian Golf and River Club in Venice, Florida. She was a 4-H advisor, teaching her skills as a seamstress. She was a great cook, loved sewing, gardening, but most important was the time she spent with her family, especially doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Gilbert F. Gutridge, whom she married in Germany on February 7, 1959; daughter, Shelly Gutridge; sons, Wayde (Susan) Gutridge and Rodney (Betsy) Gutridge; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Dan) Gayler, Lane (Devin) Hartfield, Molly Hartfield, Anthony (Tiffany) Gutridge, Amanda Gutridge, Rebeccah Gutridge, Samantha Gutridge, Kyle Gutridge, and Luke Gutridge; great grandchildren, Aaron, Landon, Lilly, Madden, Cason, Rylie and Noah; and many friends in Newark, Ohio, Marblehead, Ohio and Venice, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Inga Siebenhaar. The family would like to thank Rachel from Hospice of Central Ohio and Kelly Ferguson, her caregiver, for all of the love and support provided to Helga over the past several months. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Helga to Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
