A funeral service celebrating the life of Herbert William Snider, age 93, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Matt Hayden officiating. Burial will take place in Kirkersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.Herbert was born January 18, 1923 in Baltimore, Ohio to the late Reed McClain Snider and Dorothea (Thompson) Snider. He passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital.Herbert was a farmer and had also been the president of R.M. Snider and Son Farm in Licking County and the owner and operator of Snider Electric. He later was a mechanic for Storage Concepts (Raymond Corp.).A former member of the Hebron Lions Club, Herbert enjoyed playing basketball, model trains, woodworking, Euchre, square dancing, playing board games and doing crossword puzzles. Hewas an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes.He is survived by his children, William D. (Kendra) Snider of Bellevue, WA, George I. (Denith) Snider and John R. (Diana) Snider, all of Pataskala, Thomas H. (Pamela) Snider of Hilliard, Virginia G. (Thomas) Brinkman of Volin, SD and Beth A. Snider of Newark; step-daughter, Tina M. (Kevin) Wigal of Zanesville; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Silbur of Irvine, CA and Sophie (Curly) Morrison of Murrieta, CA; many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Snider, on July 31, 2007.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service is honored to care for Herbert and his family.
