Hilde E. Hildebrandt, 82, formerly of Buckeye Lake, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born October 24, 1933, in Cortland, Indiana, the daughter of the late Frank C. and Louise A (Krueger) Piel.She earned her B.A. in Economics from the University of Toledo, MBA from Capital University in Columbus, attained the professional designation of Certified Financial Planner and was a successful financial planner with IDS/American Express. She was a gifted musician and after retirement from IDS earned a Master of Arts in Liturgical Music from the Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus.Hilde was a tireless lobbyist for the needs of the poor, working with the Hunger Network of Ohio, where she was a member of their board of directors for many years. Hilde was a volunteer for Lutheran World Relief and went on missions in Central American and Africa.Closer to home, she served several terms on the Buckeye Lake Village Council.Hilde was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Heath, Ohio. She worked as a church musician for several area churches: St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Granville, 1stSt. Johns Lutheran Church, Toledo, St. Georges Syrian Orthodox Cathedral, Toledo,Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Buckeye Lake, Church of the Ascension, Johnstown, and St. James Episcopal Church, Zanesville. Hilde also composed and published music for church liturgies.She is survived by her children: Shawna (Hollis) Batchelor, William Hildebrandt (Chris Allred), Christine (Danforth) Hagler; grandchildren Hollis, Andrew, Anna and Rebecca; great grandsons Hollis, Barrett and Avery; brothers Luther, Gary and Hilbert Piel, sister Thelma Fuller, along with many nieces and nephews.Hilde will be interred near her family in Willow Cemetery, Oregon, Ohio. Memorial Services celebrating her life will be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Woodville Rd, Toledo, Saturday, February 6, 2016, at11:00 a.m.The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Hunger Network of Ohio, 82 E 16thAvenue, Columbus, Ohio 43201. www.hungernetohio.org
